Our Clinic uses the Toxygen Model BSC-UV made by the Dotolo Research Corp, the worldwide leader in the manufacture of Colon Hydrotherapy equipment since 1984, currently used in 35 countries.
The Toxygen is a state of the art colon hydrotherapy device which:
- is currently being used in hospitals in the United States ( view video clip)

- is a "closed system" which affords a comfortable procedure while maintaining the dignity of the patient
- has no open evacuation and no offensive odours

- comes equipped with a built-in water sanitising treatment system. This patented three stage system will remove particulate matter, reduce the amount of chlorine and, with the use of Ultraviolet light, destroy 99.9% of bacteria and viruses that may be in the water
- utilizes single use, disposable speculums. (In laboratory tests conducted in accordance with US FDA regulations, Dotolo speculums were found to have zero cytotoxicity (non-toxic). Lab report is available upon request.)
- has shown to be more effective and better tolerated than the standard methods of bowel prep for colonoscopy
- is therapist assisted for effectiveness, comfort and most importantly, safety. This procedure maintains the dignity and comfort of the patient throughout the treatment
We treat our colon hydrotherapy clients using the Toxygen, with the utmost care, sensitivity and confidentiality, adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards and practice in accordance with Association guidelines and Codes of Conduct.
Colon Hydrotherapy Preparation
Hydrate your body with plenty of pure water during the days prior to your appointment.
Prior to your colon therapy and indeed at any time, try to cut down on your coffee, tea, alcohol and soft/fizzy drinks which all dehydrate the body.
You may have regular light meals during the day or so preceding your colonic and in general; however try to avoid junk food, refined products such as white bread, pasta, rice and also meat.
Refrain from eating any foods, which can produce gas such as beans, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, onions, apples, cucumbers, and carbonated beverages.
If you smoke, try to cut down or use this time as an opportunity to make a new start!
Enjoy a healthy snack two or three hours before your appointment but please avoid eating anything after that.
It is important that you do not drink any liquids for an hour before the colonic.
If you are very constipated, try taking an Herbal laxative the day or two prior to the treatment.
External only use of castor oil rubbed onto the abdomen and left to soak in over an hour will help to soften and lubricate the hardened material in the colon. This therefore will allow for a more thorough cleanse during your colonic. Do NOT Drink it!
Most of all, relax; you will be in caring hands. This is a highly therapeutic, clinical and beneficial treatment. The benefits far out way any momentary feelings of apprehension and the results will convince you that it is worthwhile!
Post Colon Hydrotherapy & General Health Tips
Avoid any gas producing food or drinks for at least two days after your colonic.
It is advisable to avoid all stimulants, coffee, tea, alcohol and soft/fizzy drinks.
It's best to avoid any strenuous activity or exercise on the day of your colonic.
Please drink plenty of pure water! Daily & between meals!
It is not recommended to drink with your meals. This dilutes the acid in the stomach; disrupting digestion and causes gas. Try to drink your water between meals, up until 20 minutes prior to eating and not for at least 1 hour afterwards.
Try squeezing some lemon juice into your water daily. It has an alkalising affect and will balance your pH levels.
Remember to increase the fibre in your diet!
Eat more natural unprocessed foods, such as vegetables, fruit, salads, legumes (beans) and whole meal products. Remember, the best foods to eat are those that have not been changed from the way they occur in nature!
The more raw food we eat the better! These foods contain live enzymes which aid in digestion and boost our immune systems.
Raw fruit and vegetable juice is preferable to reconstituted supermarket juices which have high sugar content.
It is recommended that you take a probiotic supplement. Excess toxic waste encourages the bad bowel bacteria to flourish whilst out numbering the good bacteria. Now you have begun the cleansing process with a colonic it is an excellent chance to replenish the bowel with good ('friendly') bacteria by taking a course of probiotics.
Consider taking psyllium husks which will increase your daily fibre intake. It is wonderful for 'sweeping clean' the wall of the colon, improves the elimination of unwanted toxic build-up and encourages more frequent bowel motions.
Digestive enzymes can be taken to encourage better breakdown and therefore assimilation of nutrients.
Increased wind may be experienced by some people after the colonic. Peppermint or fennel tea helps to relieve this. You can also try camomile. These teas will have a soothing effect on your digestive system.
Depending on how well the treatment progressed and how much of the colon was cleansed, it is quite normal for your next bowel movement to be one to two days after the colonic.
We feel quite sophisticated sitting on our modern day toilets but believe it or not, 'the old ways are the best ways'! It is actually much more beneficial to go to the loo the old fashioned way. Squatting allows the bowel to assume a better position for elimination, opening up the passage way. Squatting makes going to the toilet much easier, reduces the need to strain, encourages a more complete release and speeds up the process. If you don't fancy balancing on your toilet seat then as you sit on the loo, try to elevate your feet on something about 20cm above the ground to gain a similar effect.
Detox with Dry Skin Brushing
This easy routine is a fantastic way to encourage the removal of impurities from the body. It improves your immune system, helps ward off colds and flues, stimulates your lymphatics, reduces swelling of the feet and ankles, enhances blood circulation, helps budge some cellulite, improves skin infections and irritations, makes your skin softer and gives you a healthy glow.
The skin is our body's largest eliminatory organ and if it is clogged with dead skin cells we are unable to rid the body of impurities sufficiently. This means the onus is on the other eliminatory organs such as the liver, kidney, lungs and bowel to work harder. These organs become over burdened and if toxins accumulate, a diseased state is the result.
It is recommended to dry brush your skin just prior to having a shower. With hygiene in mind, each family member should have their own separate brush and the brush itself should be cleaned every couple of weeks or so. You should be able to purchase a horse hair bristle brush from your local health food store.
Start at the soles of your feet and work your way up the legs, abdomen and back, brushing fairly vigorously. Your skin will be a little sensitive initially but will increase in tolerance as you continue this daily regime. Do your arms and hands but don't do your face. Direct the brush stroke towards your heart when concentrating on the upper back and chest areas. Don't forget to do the back of your neck and scalp too.
